Paul McMahon

PROFILE

Paul McMahon is a practising solicitor with over 25 years’ experience in the practice of law in the Republic of Ireland.  He also practised England and Wales law in Ireland for many years.   He has practised as a Chartered Tax Adviser for 16 years. He is admitted as an Attorney in New York State.

Paul has been a partner in two mid-sized law firms.  He has led and managed teams of solicitors in several areas providing complex legal services for businesses and state bodies.

Paul acted as consultant to a tenderer for the publication of the Irish Statutes and Statutory Instruments on CD ROM in the mid 1990’s. He has lectured extensively for the Law Society of Ireland in property, banking, finance and the English and Wales conversion course.

PRACTICE

Paul has practised as a solicitor and legal advisor in a range of areas including corporate and commercial law, employment, trade, property development, trusts and estate planning, litigation, banking and taxation. He has advised and acted in transactions for clients across a wide range of business sectors.

Paul has practised both by himself and as team leader in complex, challenging and unique projects in various areas and sectors. Samples of transactions in which Paul has acted are included in other sections of this website, which deal with the areas concerned.

PUBLICATIONS

Paul has written all the content of the Irish Legal Guide, which is a unique wide-ranging guide to Irish Law.  It is an in-depth summary of almost all areas of Irish law, regulation and practice.In addition, the guide also contains the original legislation, sample case law and other legal materials relevant to each area of law concerned.

The parts of Irish Legal Guide dealing with the legal issues that arise for businesses in Ireland is now available at legalguide.ie  New areas are being added on an ongoing basis. Sections dealing in detail with Intellectual Property,  Competition, Tax, Real Property, Tort and Dispute Resolution will be added in the coming months as editing is completed.

Irish Legal Guide is a subscription website. A free no-credit card, once-off, one week trial is available to all users.  Future releases, which have been fully written will cover the remaining areas of Irish law and regulation. Some of the draft material for Irish Legal Guide is available of the McMahon Legal Blog website.

Paul McMahon has also largely written  a Northern Ireland /  UK version of the Irish Legal Guide, which are intended for future release.

Paul has published three websites,  UK Legal (An Irish Overview) and Brexit Legal (An Irish Guide). UK Legal (An Irish Overview) is a practical guide to doing business in the UK, primarily for Irish businesses and residents with UK interests.  Brexit Legal (An Irish Guide) contains over 300 articles on Brexit related issues. McMahon Legal Blog contains a range of material that is being prepared for publication on Irish Legal Guide.
